Radiologic Therapy
The Radiation Therapy program uses classroom, laboratory and clinical education to prepare students
to work as Radiation Therapists in cancer treatment centers, hospitals, clinics, private office and
research centers. Radiation Therapists work under the direction of a radiation oncologist to treat
patients with malignant diseases using ionizing radiation. The program uses a combination of
technical and general education courses to emphasize decision-making and critical thinking skills
based upon a solid clinical foundation. MTI has the only Radiation Therapy program in South Dakota.
Admissions Requirements: Applicant must be ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology or registry
eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (www.aart.org). 40 hours must
be spent shadowing in a radiation therapy facility, submission of a written essay describing and
analyzing the visit, and a personal interview with the MTI Admissions Committee. Deadline for
application: May 1. 2007. Immunization requirements and background checks will have to be met
before entering the clinical setting. See the Program Director for details.
Award: AAS Degree
